1) ALWAYS treat ALL GUNS “as if” the gun is LOADED.

2) NEVER POINT a gun at ANYTHING that is WRONG to DESTROY.

3) ALWAYS CHECK the BACKGROUND

4) NEVER put your FINGER ON the TRIGGER until READY to FIRE

5) NEVER use a gun AGAINST another PERSON except in cases of IMMEDIATE DEFENCE.

6) ALWAYS make sure your FIREARMS are SECURE before ALTERING your MENTAL state.

7) NEVER let a gun LEAVE your CONTROL without CLEARING it first

8) ALWAYS seek instruction BEFORE handling an UNFAMILIAR Firearm.

1) ALWAYS treat ALL GUNS “as if” the gun is LOADED

This law was created in response to all the people, pets, and other illegitimate targets that have been shot with an ‘unloaded gun’ over the years. Which brings us to the second law

2) NEVER POINT a gun at ANYTHING that is WRONG to DESTROY.

Bulls Eye or Silhouette targets, soda cans, Ritz crackers, marshmallow peeps, pretty much anything is OK as long as you have a safe background and don’t leave a mess or litter

Not OK, another person or yourself, animals, vehicles, furniture, appliances, your little brother, even if it’s a prank, even if you plan on being careful SEE 1st LAW!!

Even when POINTING a gun at a LEGITIMATE target…

3) ALWAYS CHECK the BACKGROUND

Checking the background means making sure there is nothing behind the legitimate target that it would be wrong to destroy. When target shooting, if unable to verify what is behind the targets, don’t shoot.

In a defensive use scenario, where there is time to assess the situation, the need to shoot in immediate defense of yourself or others may mean not being able to check and clear the background. At this point it becomes extremely important, both ethically and legally, that you consider your actions carefully. Any careless or reckless behaviour on your part could potentially impact your life for years to come, in lawyers fees and medical bills and feelings of guilt. Be Measured.

Even though the gun is POINTING at a legitimate target and there is a CLEAR BACKGROUND

4) NEVER put your FINGER ON the TRIGGER until READY to FIRE

The accepted practice is to lay your trigger finger alongside the pistol above the trigger guard and leaving it there until you have your target in a ‘sight picture’.

Because a GUN is a POWERFUL and potentially LETHAL TOOL we are

5) Bound to NEVER use a GUN against another PERSON except in cases of IMMEDIATE DEFENCE. Never use violence against another person unless you are defending a life.

Again because a gun is a POWERFUL and potentially LETHAL TOOL

6) ALWAYS make sure your FIREARMS are SECURE before ALTERING your MENTAL state.

Whether Alcohol, Hemp, Prescription Pain Killers, over-the-counter Antihistamines or Holistic herbs and fungi, DOES NOT MATTER, never take anything that might cause you to lose control of your conscious self without making sure you will not becoming a threat to yourself or others. If you can’t secure your guns DO NOT ALTER YOUR MENTAL STATE.

7) NEVER let a gun LEAVE your CONTROL without CLEARING it first

If you can’t clear it, this is a warning sign for BE EXTRA careful

Clearing the gun means leaving the gun in an OPEN STATE

If the gun is an Semi-Automatic drop the magazine and rack the slide locking the slide back.

If the gun is a revolver with either a side swinging or a top break cylinder, open the cylinder and leave the cylinder open when handing it over or setting it down

If the gun is a revolver with a fixed cylinder and it’s not practical to pull the cylinder or take out the rounds this means you can’t clear the gun so BE extra CAREFUL.

If a person hands you a gun without clearing it first it becomes a judgement call on your part. If you think the person is ‘safe’ you can ask them to clear the gun before handing it to you. If you think the person is unsafe CAUTIOUSLY take the gun from them and clear it yourself. This leads us directly to rule eight which tells us to

8) ALWAYS seek instruction BEFORE handling an UNFAMILIAR gun

Of course it isn’t always possible to seek instruction before handling an unfamiliar fire-arm, which is why it’s a good idea to prepare before hand by learning about all the different ways the gun can be configured.

Until we no longer need live by Waco v.s. Romanian Rules!

Keep your powder dry baby!!

Molon Labe!!!
